Ladies  and Gentlemen

May I first say what a pleasure it is for us to be  hosting this regional workshop on Coaching and Mentoring  organised by the East African Communications Organisation (EACO). I bring you greetings from UCC. It's also my pleasure  to welcome you to our beautiful country, Uganda "The Pearl  of Africa".

Ladies  and Gentlemen, the  importance of coaching and mentoring cannot be underestimated. Generally  speaking, coaching and mentoring lead to:

  • Increased job satisfaction
  • Enhance skill development
  • Leads to professional development
  • Improve problem analysis and strategic thinking
  • Develop self-esteem

This workshop, therefore, provides an opportunity  to explore ways of how to use  coaching and mentoring to develop our human resources so as to leverage socio-economic development of our  society.

I trust we shall make the most of this workshop to  find the best way forward. I urge you to discuss this important subject frankly  and rationally.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I do not intend to take any  more of your time, as I realise that you have a busy schedule before you.

Nevertheless, I would like to urge you to take  time out of your busy schedule to socialise and explore Kampala.

Please feel at home; we shall do everything  possible to make your stay in Kampala a memorable one.

With these few remarks, it is my  pleasure to declare this workshop open.

Thank you for your attention.

Mr Godfrey  Mutabazi
Executive  Director
