Use of Social Media to Perpetrate Examination Malpractices

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and other security agencies have received reports that a racket of unscrupulous individuals are using social media platforms like WhatsApp to perpetrate examination malpractices and to fleece the unsuspecting members of the public of their money on the basis of fraudulent promises to offer them access to examination papers. Such practices are contrary to Section 19 of the Uganda National Examinations Board Act (Cap 173) and the Computer Misuse Act 2011.

The elections took place on October 13, 2016 during the 37th ITSO Assembly of Parties (AP-37) meeting scheduled for Washington DC from October 12-14, 2016.
